Bac Fu Do - Grandmaster Sifu David Crook

Bac Fu Do Kung Fu has been taught in the Canberra region since 1969. Our focus is on teaching combat effective self defence concepts - rather than Sports fighting techniques. Bac Fu Do is a Chinese version of Mixed Martial Art (MMA), using striking, kicking, grappling, ground fighting and weaponry tactics. It is recognised for its dynamic and down-to-earth approach and innovative training tactics. Prior to commencing his training in the Chinese Martial Arts, our Founding Master (Si Jo) David Crook also had extensive experience in the Japanese arts of Karate Do, Ju Jutsu and Atemi Jutsu, achieving the rank of 3rd degree black belt

In 1974, Sifu Crook founded Australia's first and longest running Martial Arts Multi Style Camp, which over the years has attracted practitioners from Karate, Jujutsu, Tae Kwon Do, Ninjutsu, Atemi Jutsu, Wing Chun, Choy Lay Fut, Pai Lum, Shaolin, Hsing i, Pa Kua/Bagua, Tai Chi, Tang Soo Do, Tang Shou Tao, Chin Na, Wushu, Aikido, JKD, Lin Wan Kune Do, CQB and other arts.

Sifu Crook has also taught Police Officer Survival & Defensive Tactics for the Australian Federal Police Force. Sifu Crook is also a founder of the Australian Kung Fu (Wu Shu) Federation and has been the Federation's Senior Vice President.

1 Tuesday Warm up, bag work, traditional Kung Fu drills and applications (our emphasis is on combat effective Kung Fu applications NOT sport fighting)
1 Thursday Warm up, bag work, street self defence scenario applications (effective responses to scenarios generated by students)
2 Tuesday Warm up, bag work, Chin Na grappling and Kung Fu ground fighting (not wrestling, but effective use of Kung Fu techniques from the ground)
2 Thursday Warm up, bag work, traditional Kung Fu drills and applications
3 Tuesday Warm up, bag work, weapons applications (use of and defence against weapons – both traditional and street/environmental weapons)
3 Thursday Warm up, bag work, traditional Kung Fu drills and applications (our emphasis is on combat effective Kung Fu applications NOT sport fighting)
4 Tuesday Warm up, bag work, traditional Kung Fu drills and applications
4 Thursday Warm up, bag work, Chin Na grappling and Kung Fu ground fighting
